About The Theatre Lab The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts is the Washington area's most comprehensive theatre training center, providing theatre education to more than 1,000 adults, teens and children in the DC area each year. Courses and programs, all taught by professional theatre artists, include year-round classes for adults in acting, playwriting, directing, musical theatre, and drama criticism, as well as summer acting and musical theatre camps for youth. We also offer the Honors Conservatory—an intensive year-long training program for those preparing for a career in the theatre. A non-profit organization committed to broadening participation in theatre arts and providing theatre education opportunities for traditionally underserved populations, The Theatre Lab offers numerous scholarship awards for disadvantaged youth and adults as well as innovative free programs for seniors, incarcerated and at-risk youth, and people living with HIV/AIDS. The Theatre Lab has been featured in the Catalogue for Philanthropy as one of “the best small charities in Washington” and its directors received the prestigious Linowes Leadership Award from the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region for their efforts to improve the metropolitan community through accessible arts training.
