The Theatre Lab's It's time once again for the most exciting fundraiser you can imagine: The Theatre Lab's Dramathon!
Picture this: you, a dedicated volunteer, have spent four weeks raising money to allow underprivileged kids to attend summer drama camp. Now you're standing on stage at Theater J next to a Helen Hayes award-winning actor, performing an original short play before an adoring crowd! Sounds fun, right? Well now's your chance to make it happen!
The Dramathon is a part of our annual Send a Kid to Camp fundraising campaign. Here's how it works:
The Dramathon is an evening of readings of original ten-minute plays by some of our best local playwrights, along with DC's top professional actors and directors. The winners of the fund-raising drive will get one rehearsal with their respective director before hitting the boards with the pros the night of the performance. Last year's Dramathon was a huge success, presenting an exciting evening of new theatre pieces as well as raising over $10,000 for The Theatre Lab's financial aid fund!
Participants will pay a $25 entry fee/starting donation that will be applied towards their fund-raising total (this means you only have to raise $75 to hit the minimum of $100 to be eligible to perform in the show; but remember, only the top earners above $100 will be selected). We will create a page for registered participants on our website to accept online donations, making the fund-raising process even easier!
All the money raised will go directly to The Theatre Lab's Scholarship Fund.
For information and registration, give us a call at 202-824-0449. Be a star - and make a kid one, too!
